At Brook Plaza Ophthalmology, we offer both vision screenings and
eye test Sheepshead Bay for our patients. It’s important to discern the difference between both types of tests. An eye exam is an exam that checks the eyes as well the health of the eye. It also checks for disease inside the eye and detects symptoms that can point to disease. A vision screening checks the patient’s vision to see whether or not they need glasses, and to test out their vision. A chart is used to determine at what level the eyes can see. 20/20 is perfect vision.

Glaucoma and cataracts both can impede vision and cause issues with seeing over time. They come on slowly, and can be caught and treated with an annual eye exam. We recommend our patients come in at least once every year for their eye exams. For vision testing, and refraction for glasses, patients can come in when they feel their eyes may be changing or they need an updated prescription. Patients need to come in annually for contact lens exam updates.
Both exams are essential to your eye health and should be performed annually at the very least to avoid problems in the future with eyes that may have been undetected. Our

Corrective lenses help the patient to see better and to enhance their vision. Every patient is different, and has a unique prescription that is tailored to their eyes. Patients may prefer either eyeglasses or contact lenses for their corrective lenses. Both offer various and different options for our patients so that they can see clearly.
